The Research Administration Mentoring Program and University Partnership (RAMP UP)

RAMP UP UVA is a one year program designed for Research Administrators to provide help with professional development and career aspirations through mentoring and workshop support.

   Goals:

  • Strengthen professional networks within UVA’s research community and beyond

  • Foster long-term careers and increase interest/improve retention in research administration

  • Create a supportive, interactive and collaborative environment for leadership development

  • Encourage career growth within the research administration field

Program Features:

  • Mentorship training for mentors

  • Monthly Office Hours 

  • Monthly workshops focused on professional development

  • Capstone project

  • Access to prior Mentor and Mentee Cohorts

  • Professional development and CEU credits

2023 - 2024 Application Information

RAMP UP is open to all Research Administrators at the University of Virginia

Mentor Eligibility:

Mentors must have

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Research Administrator

  • Commitment to the professional development of colleagues

  • Supervisor's approval to participate in the program

Mentor Expectations

  • Attendance at mentor training session, cohort kickoff, workshops, and feedback sessions

  • Meet regularly with Mentee

  • Co-Moderate at least two RAMP UP Office Hours sessions

  • Co-Lead at least one workshop

  • Co-Lead RAMP UP capstone project

    • Dyads will work in groups of two to complete a capstone project that benefits the greater research administration community at the University of Virginia​

Current Mentors do not need to submit a new application - Please email Kayla Calvo (krc7d@virginia.edu) if you are interested in being a mentor in the 23 - 24 Cohort.

  • Research Administration should be primary focus

  • Supervisor's approval to participate in the program

  • Attendance at cohort kickoff, workshops, and feedback sessions

  • Meet regularly with Mentor

    • Dyads will work in groups of two to complete a capstone project that benefits the greater research administration community at the University of Virginia​
